Victoria: OHS Essentials Program

OHS Essentials is a free, WorkSafe Victoria-funded program that helps businesses with fewer than 60 employees meet their workplace safety obligations. Our program provides confidential, independent advice tailored to each individual workplace. It helps you understand and meet your specific legal OHS obligations, and delivers a clear, practical safety action plan with ongoing support.

The program provides businesses with a safety expert who will guide you through what’s required and help put simple safety steps in place that suit your business. Action OHS Consulting has a team of safety experts who are experienced in providing the OHS essentials program.

WorkSafe Victoria’s OHS Essentials program offers a valuable opportunity to enhance workplace safety practices while minimising the impact of premium rate increases. As an approved provider of the OHS Essentials program, Action OHS Consulting is well-equipped to guide businesses through this process.

OHS Essentials is great for small businesses to strengthen and gain advice on their safety processes.

Who can use the OHS Essentials Program?

The OHS Essentials is available to small businesses and sole traders in Victoria who hold a WorkCover insurance policy. To be classified as a small business, you must have 60 or fewer employees.

Regardless of your industry and needs, Action OHS will ensure you are paired with a safety expert equipped with the knowledge and expertise to understand your challenges.

Importantly, the program is also available to all Victorian farmers.

How does it work?

WorkSafe Victoria funds three visits from one of our safety experts onsite over the course of 12 months.

Visit 1:

The first visit involves a site review by an independent health and safety expert who will then prepare a simple safety plan.

Visit 2:

The second involves a check-in at the 3-6 month stage, where the safety plan can be reviewed, and guidance provided.

Visit 3:

A final visit 9-12 months after the initial visit, where our consultant will help ensure the necessary actions have been taken, and your workplace safety plan is in place!
